Expanded version of Metal Gear Solid, which was previously exclusive to the PlayStation and unavailable exterior of Nippon, featuring diverse extras and gameplay enhancements. The PC version has a fix of two executables: mgsi.exe for the base of operations game and mgsvr.exe for the VR Missions.
Music and sound effects are lower quality than the PlayStation version, and some tracks are missing. Certain audio clips play back at the wrong pitch, and framebuffer effects such as movement blur or depth of field are not displayed correctly.[ane]

Widescreen resolution [edit]

Widescreen fix[7]
  1. Download Widescreen prepare by nemesis2000.
  2. Extract mgs.7z files to the installation folder (password: mgs).
  3. Run upx.bat if exe size equals i,008,640 bytes.
  4. Edit mgs1w.ini to fix the resolution.

For GOG.com version:[eight]

  1. Download the widescreen fix by nemesis2000.
  2. Inside the game folder, create a new folder called scripts. Extract mgs1w.dll and mgs1w.ini to the scripts binder and rename mgs1w.dll to mgs1w.asi.
  3. Download the 32-bit version of Ultimate ASI Loader past ThirteenAG.
  4. Excerpt dinput8.dll to the installation directory and rename dinput8.dll to winmm.dll
  5. Edit the mgs1w.ini file to change the resolution to the smallest possible resolution for the aspect ratio of your monitor (due east.g. 720x480 for 16:nine monitors).
  6. Delete mgsvideo.cfg and mgsvideo1.cfg from the installation directory.
  7. Download dgVoodoo 2 and extract it to a different location from the game.
  8. Copy all the DDL files from the MS\x86 binder to the game installation directory.
  9. Launch dgVoodooCpl.exe as an ambassador, click the add push, and select the game installation directory to create a profile.
  10. Select the DirectX tab, force your desired resolution, uncheck dgVoodoo Watermark, and adjust vSync/MSAA/texture filtering as you wish.

To get FMVs to work with Nemesis2000'southward Widescreen Fix (for those who are having them appear pinkish and green in the GOG.com version), apply DXWnd. FMV screens will be smaller than other cutscenes, merely they will look a lot improve than before.
